Not Hired But Called

Ministry is not a stepping stone to fame or a platform to build a personal brand, nor is it a side hustle one juggles alongside other ambitions.

Ministry is a CALLING to lay down your life in SERVICE to the will of the LORD and the needs of His people.

The Apostle Paul never boasted about ministry like it was some sort of achievement; he bore it like a cross, and that was why he could say, “Woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!” (1 Corinthians 9:16).

That’s definitely not the language of someone who is chasing trends, but the cry of a man who the burdens of the LORD have consumed.

We unfortunately have many younger generation of ministers who are zealous, passionate and good-looking, treating ministry like it’s some sort of a gig, jumping in when it’s CONVENIENT, when the LIGHTS ARE ON or when the HONORARIUM is right.

However, it was not and isn’t still not so of a true ministry because the truth is that ministry, by the standard of the Kingdom, happens in hidden places, in prayer closets, on dusty roads, in weeping over souls, in late nights and early mornings, in sacrificial giving, in enduring rejection and misunderstanding, and in standing firm when no one claps for us.

Ministry is not about popularity but OBEDIENCE. It’s not about influence, but IMPACT. It’s not about what we can get, but how much we’re willing to GIVE.

Jesus said, “The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11)

Beloved, the call is still sacred, the altar is still holy, and the cost is still everything.

It’s time for us to return to the proper posture we ought to have, which is servants and not performers.

We must remember that we were called, not hired.

We must lay aside distractions and put all into serving.

Grace to you!

Your Brother,
