Think On These Things (11)

Matthew 15:11

It is not what goes into the mouth of a man that makes him unclean and defiled, BUT WHAT COMES OUT OF THE MOUTH; THIS MAKES A MAN UNCLEAN AND DEFILES [HIM].

God is wise and His wisdom is unsearchable, yea! He created all things perfectly and uniquely, and the way He created man is astounding and astonishing. The heart of man did He create in such a way that it has the ability to produce and bring forth its contents. Ordinarily, the mouth or tongue now, as the case may be, is supposed to be a receiver that pollutes the heart but Jesus made the clarification in the Bible text for today that the tongue is a transmitter or projector that pollutes the heart of a man. The eye and the ear are meant to enter into the heart of man while the tongue and the mouth are meant to come out of the heart of man. The position and content of a man’s heart is made known first and basically by his words. A man is no different from his words.

James 3:2 reads – “For we all often stumble and fall and offend in many things. And if anyone does not offend in speech [never says the wrong things], he has a fully developed character and is a perfect man, able to control his whole body and to curb his entire nature.”

The tongue of a man is a powerful tool and must not be used anyhow. Although the tongue draws from the contents of the heart and projects it forth, it also has the ability to defile a man. It is therefore needed that you guard the words that come forth from your mouth.

A man that does not sin in words is regarded to be wise because fools have never learnt the right use of their tongues and so they speak without control and in their foolish talks bring disaster upon themselves and their immediate environment. You must protect the words that come from your mouth. Christ delights in you when you bless and do not curse. Curse has never been of profit to any man who is in Christ. And so you must live a life of blessing. Your words should carry the life of God that you have inside of you, and not as a tool of destruction. Mind your tongue and screen your words before releasing them.

Confession: My tongue will not be a weapon of mass destruction but an instrument in God’s hands to transform lives.
