Think On These Things (14)

1 John 4:8

He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love.

Christianity is not a dead religion but a lifestyle, a living religion which connotes that there is practicability in what a Christian does. Christians are not like students who learn the theoretical part of a course and shy away when the practical comes. Consider a science student who doesn’t like doing practical, especially in secondary school, we should be sure that such student will not pass WASSCE excellently. That illustration may look like what today is about but much more, the life of a Christian is that which lives out the nature of God here on earth. God is not so much about what you know in your head but what you practice.

God is love! Do you really believe this? If there is any dimension of God that should take much of our time to think and meditate upon, it is the dimension of His love. It’s hard for you to preach this love to another person if you do not consciously believe this love. You must know that it was God’s love that saved you from sin and destruction. There is nothing good that would have come out of you if not for the love of God.

God’s love is boundless, awesome, beyond imagination and great! Thinking on things like this makes you want to live in a way that appreciates that love that saved you while you were still an enemy of God. God has not saved you to live in a fear that condemns but to live in love for perfect love casts out fear and there is no fear in love. When you understand the love of God, you will then realize that you are what you are because God loves and not that you deserve it.

For this purpose, your worship of God should be in reverence to Him. Let love lead your life and not a fear that makes you useless. Fearing God is important but it should be because you love Him. How well do you love God? Living in and with this reality brings you closer to God than just having the knowledge. This kind of love frees you from living wrong.

Confession: I live in and by the love God practically.
