Think On These Things (24)

John 6:26-27 (AMP)

“Jesus answered them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, you have been searching for Me, not because you saw the miracles and signs but because you were fed with the loaves and were filled and satisfied. Stop toiling and doing and producing for the food that perishes and decomposes [in the using], but strive and work and produce rather for the [lasting] food which endures [continually] unto life eternal; the Son of Man will give (furnish) you that, for God the Father has authorized and certified Him and put His seal of endorsement upon Him.”

From the text today, you have another truth to ponder upon. What is the essence of your labour as a Christian and servant in God’s vineyard? The Christian way is one that does not place its attention and affection on things that perish but on things that last forever. There is a limit to what you can enjoy in this world because this world itself is fading away but the Kingdom of God stays forever. Why do you still seek the Lord? If that reason is separated from you, will you still stay with Christ? It is really becoming important that believers think on what define their relationship with God.

Christ teaches us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things shall be added unto us, but many of us are going in the opposite direction. We’d rather seek those extras and leave the original that Christ has for us. Seeking others things apart from the Kingdom of God first is a misplacement of priority and it births futility and vanity. It is possible to live a vain and futile life as a Christian if your desires do not align with the will, purposes, and thoughts of God. Haven’t you considered how many times you have wandered away from God just because you want to satisfy your selfishness?

There is no way around it. For you to enjoy God as He desires, what you seek for must be what aligns with His will. You no longer belong to yourself or to the world the moment you were saved and so, all of you must be dependent upon Him. Christ did not die to put food on your table and money in your pockets, although you will enjoy this as well. He came for a bigger reason which is to give you eternal life and an experience of that life from this earth. When you made your decision to follow Christ, how sincere were you to choose to carry your cross and follow Him daily? Have you been faithful to such decision that you made some days, months or years ago?

Confession: I live in alignment with the will of God and I seek His Kingdom as a priority.
