Romans 14:17 (AMP)
“[After all] the kingdom of God is not a matter of [getting the] food and drink [one likes], but instead it is righteousness (that state which makes a person acceptable to God) and [heart] peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”
What is the Kingdom of God? Have you ever been faced with this kind of question? Maybe or maybe not, but it is a valid question that requires you to check what you believe in and where you are now living. It is true that you are living on earth but your spiritual location changed the moment you accepted Christ and you are now seated high and above with Christ in heavenly places. That’s where you are now! Do you believe this? You should! Paul the Apostle, by the Spirit, gave us a great idea of what the Kingdom of God is like compared to what many think it is. The Kingdom of God is not of this world which has its focus on perishables.
Righteousness is both imputed and worked out through constant alignment with God in will, thought, purpose and actions. In Paul’s definition of the Kingdom of God, it is righteousness. Righteousness means being in right standing with God, doing His will, not once but always. So, when a man is practicing this kind of righteousness, he is living in the Kingdom of God. Being righteous, in this context, doesn’t mean a man who doesn’t make mistakes again, but a man who is helped by God to be right.
Attaining whatever level or having whatever reality in God is not accomplished by the strength of man but by the power and strength of God, carrying out the desire of God through you. What then should be your focus as you live in this Kingdom? It should not be food to eat, clothes to wear or what to drink but how to live in right standing with God, against all odds.
