Love Is Patient

1 Corinthians 13:4 (AMPC)

”Love endures long and is patient and kind…”

Patience is the ability to stay calm and accept something annoying without complaining. A person full of love is patient. They don’t go about grumbling and complaining when things don’t go their way. Instead, they stay calm and look for a way to solve the problem and take it to God. Love doesn’t flare up at any slight provocation.

One of the proofs of your love towards the brethren is that you are patient. Another word commonly used for being patient is longsuffering. When men do things that we do not like, love will teach us patience. He who is not patient with his brethren or neighbours does not live.

God’s love to us is our standard. If God isn’t patient with us, we would have been destroyed times without number. We should learn from that and exercise patience even as we love. We don’t need to shout, scream or resort to violence when we are annoyed. We should remember that God’s love is patient and God’s love won’t flare up uncontrollably at anything, anytime and anywhere. God’s love in us should portray patience, if we’ll be indeed children of our father who’s love.

Confession: I walk by the standard of God’s love and am patient with others.
