God is love. It can be said that love is a personality. He that loves knows God, and he that knows God loves (1 John 4:16).
Just like every legitimate child looks like the parent, every child of God should look like God, who is love. When the world sees us, the world should be able to accurately define the exact meaning of love through its various expressions in us.
Love endures, love doesn’t give up easily, and it’s not impatient. When we love God first and secondly our neighbors, who are our brothers and sisters in Christ, part of what is expected from us is endurance. We shouldn’t give up on our faith walk; even when it seems difficult, we should always remember that love endures. Endurance means to continue something difficult for a long time.
In our love journey as believers, we would surely encounter things we didn’t sign up for, but we should remember what the scriptures say about love if we accurately express the love of God. It is that love that endures. Jesus endured the cross, the apostles endured sufferings, Ruth endured emotional turmoil, and so on. Our love shouldn’t give up easily but be ready to thrive in difficult situations because that is the proof of a biblical love.
Confession: I endure and do not give up easily on people because I love them.
