John 15:4 (KJV)

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”

No farmer eats the fruit of any crop without following and going through the processes that bring such enjoyment. The Christian life starts from a crucial point, which many, sadly, pay little or no attention to in these days. Salvation is the first step to be taken if anyone is to be considered one of Christ’s. In agricultural terms, grafting must be done into the vine (Christ, John 15:1).

Church attendance and participation in church activities, without salvation, will not bring any man to bear the fruit of the Spirit. Nothing can substitute the place of confessing Jesus as Lord and Saviour and believing in the heart that He is the Son of God (Romans 10:9). This is how to be saved and be grafted into the Vine.

A question many who are in the church need to be asked, and also ask themselves, is that of salvation. If you are not yet saved truly, that is, if you have never at any point confessed and believed the Lordship of Christ and the salvation He gives, you are not one of His, and you are not entitled to His Spirit, which means you will be fruitless. Check now and make the necessary decision.

Confession: Now and always, I confess Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, and I believe Him.
