THE BELIEVING ISAAC (1)

Genesis 25:21 (AMP)

“And Isaac prayed much to the Lord for his wife because she was unable to bear children; and the Lord granted his prayer, and Rebekah his wife became pregnant.”

Every situation in life demands that a Christian stays with God and trusts Him totally. Isaac was a man who believed in the God of his father, Abraham and he walked with God, just like his father, Abraham. Abraham didn’t give birth to a son early in his life but he trusted God, followed and obeyed Him in all things. But there was a difference in the case of Isaac. Rebekah, Isaac’s wife was with no child for many years which led Isaac to pray to God in order that his wife might have the fruit of the womb. God answered the sincere prayer of Isaac and He gave them twins. It is something that needs to be bothered about that what if Isaac did not know the Lord, how would he have called upon God for his wife?

With what the standard and lifestyle of the world is projecting in our days, God needs men who would trust Him over their wives and homes. The lifestyle of the world is that if you are not getting what you want in the home as a man or woman, you find an alternative, seeking the ways of the world to do things. It is a reality that the gift of blessings belongs to the Lord and He gives whosoever pleases Him but He doesn’t forbid His children from asking Him what they desire.

The Lord gives respect to the prayers of a man who is faithful and obedient in his walk. There are many persons and homes that would have enjoyed bliss if only the man who is supposed to be the priest and prophet had a good relationship with God.

Truly there are many praying to God today but a question that needs to be asked is that on the strength of which relationship is the prayer made? Prayers made in disobedience to the will and ordinances of God are those that are left unanswered. God already promised Abraham that his seed would become a great nation and inherit the lands of their enemies but Isaac too needed to have children for this promise to progress to fulfillment.

In a world where men are forsaking God to look for other means to solve their problems, choose to trust God completely even when it doesn’t make sense.

Confession: Through different challenges, I look up to God in prayer and I trust Him for solutions.
