Daniel and His Friends (4)

Daniel 2:17-18 (AMP)

“Then Daniel went to his house and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, So that they would desire and request mercy of the God of heaven concerning this secret, that Daniel and his companions should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.”

Being a Christian is a matter of being patient and discerning about, especially in a world like this where many want to live like Christians without living the life of Christ. To be different means to sacrifice pleasure and enjoyment for the gain of the Kingdom. As a Christian, God is supposed to be your all, and without Him, you are nothing. Many like to add their own philosophy and way of life to being different as a Christian, but the truth is that it doesn’t work that way. The call to be a Christian is a call to be different from others, in faith and in act.

Daniel and his friends had to pray to God concerning the King’s dream. A befuddling question that should be raised is that, what gives this man the assurance that God would reveal the dream to him, and what if God didn’t reveal it to him? What would have happened? These are questions that might be asked, but the answer is simple and direct. God does not betray nor disappoint those who have chosen to honour Him above any and every other thing. Daniel and his friends have never had an alternative to God. Whatever life you plan to live for God, it must be by God’s resources in all areas: His wisdom, power, authority, provision, protection, and His words. And the only means to bring to work these resources is by praying.

Praying according to the will of God indicates your total surrender to and reliance on God. You cannot be relevant or matured in this Kingdom without praying prayers that would bring glory to God. Daniel and his friends did not pray for the answer to the King’s puzzling dream in order to be seen as the best but it is to the end that God’s glory would be seen. And this was what later happened. God was ultimately glorified. You argue that you pray, but what is the content of your prayers? Who inspires your prayers? What happens after you have prayed? Self-glorification or God-glorification? Men who would really make a difference are men who pray the mind of God into reality.

Confession: I pray the will of God into reality for His name to be glorified.
