Missions, Missionaries and Mission Mobilization (5)

2 Timothy 1:16 (AMP)

“The Lord grant mercy to the family of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and showed me kindness [comforting and reviving me like fresh air] and he was not ashamed of my chains [for Christ’s sake].”

Missions are a strong point in the Church that believers cannot afford to take lightly, especially in these end times when the second coming of Jesus is nearer than could be imagined. Unfortunately, many missionaries also leave the field for many reasons.

One of the major reasons for this desertion is that fellow believers do not seem to care about whatever is going on with them while on the field. In fact, some even think it is foolish to say the Lord has called you to go to a people you know not to preach the Gospel to them and also disciple them as they receive the Gospel.

Understanding that the Church has a role in the men and women on the field that is beyond giving money in seeing to their well-being and comfort will do a lot of good. Just like every other human won’t be fully satisfied with money, missionaries are the same as well.

Reaching out to these missionaries through texts, calls, and visits, which are for the purpose of ensuring their well-being, will be beneficial. Members of churches must be taught not to disdain missionaries and to see with high importance that which they do for the Kingdom. And this is something you should also do. Reach out to them. Show that you care. And encourage them as they do the work.

Confession: I will not desert the missionaries that I know in prayers, giving, and reaching with comfort and love.
