Acts 8:4 (AMP)
“Now those [believers] who had been scattered went from place to place preaching the word [the good news of salvation through Christ].”
Jesus Christ began His earthly ministry with the preaching of the message of repentance as a prerequisite for entering and experiencing the Kingdom of God. Jesus went from villages to towns to cities preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, and as He did this, He did many miracles as well, manifesting the power of the Kingdom. His disciples have been called to do the same.
A Christian is much more interested in the salvation of others, wherever he goes, above other things. A Christian is not so much preoccupied with material wealth as he is with the salvation of souls around him. The early disciples lived like Jesus in that wherever they went, due to the persecution they faced in Jerusalem, they never kept quiet, but they preached the Gospel, and through this, the Gospel spread into many regions.
You cannot be called a Christian if you are more selfish and materialistic than you are spiritual and evangelistic. A Christian is evangelistic in nature. His daily desire is to see unbelievers around him saved. If you would be sincere, when last have you had the desire to preach the Gospel, and you actually did? When last have you prayed for the salvation of an unbeliever around you?
We can give ourselves many names as Christians, but if we fail in this aspect, we won’t be living truly and accurately as Christians. Soul-winning and evangelism were the trademarks of the early disciples, which earned them the name “Christian” because they were like Christ in the preaching of the Gospel of the Kingdom. In this regard, can it truly be said that you are Christ-like, or does this aspect not apply to you? It’s time to ponder and readjust where necessary.
Confession: I stand up to my duty of preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom wherever I am.
