Romans 12:2 (AMP)
“And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].”
The mind of man is the seat of intellect, emotions, and will, and it is a part of man that somewhat controls the outward actions and lifestyles of man. When a man gets born again, his spirit becomes regenerated instantly, but his mind goes through a lifelong process of transformation and regeneration. No man’s mind becomes completely whole and transformed after salvation.
The mind can either accommodate God or the devil, and this depends on who’s given the control. Man has the power to decide who will be in control of his mind. No matter how morally upright a man is, without Jesus, his mind and heart don’t belong to God; they still belong to the prince of this world. Anytime an attempt is made to allow the things of God in our minds, a raging battle ensues because the devil doesn’t like to give up territories.
Being a believer, you must understand that having a transformed and renewed mind will give you many victories over the operations of the evil one in your life. What becomes the outcome of your life is who you submit your heart to. You cannot live in the middle; you are either for God completely or the devil. What brings renewal of the mind is the Word of God. The Word of God is what transforms a man’s mind and changes him into who he should be. How much importance do you place on the Word of God in your life?
