Galatians 5:22 (AMP)
“But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], JOY, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness.”
Joy is an expression of the Spirit in a relationship with believer. This is gladness that can only come from the presence of God. Seeking joy outside God’s presence is futile and we can only be rewarded with happiness which lasts for a while and afterwards fades away. Many people tend to fill the void lack of joy causes in them with partying, looseness, social interactions, achievements and all. But all can’t measure up to the true Joy that comes from the presence of the Lord.
Gladness can come by receiving a good word from the Lord. When they suddenly tell you something good about you, and you unexplainably know and believe it, your heart erupts in joy and gladness. It’s a feeling that’s beyond getting motivated by few achievements. It’s a knowing about who you are and what’ll you be through His word. It gives you confidence, boldness and sense of direction.
Joy can also come when the Lord shows you something. Your heart suddenly shines with light and understanding. The vision brings rest, peace and joy. You’re not at lost for what to do, when others are rushing or wasting time, you know what to do, per time and season and that’s enough to make joy swell in your heart.
Confession: The joy of the Lord flows in me and it is my strength.
