“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste (its strength, its quality), how can its saltness be restored? It is not good for anything any longer but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot by men.” – Matthew 5:13 (AMP)
Salt is a very important or rather to say the most important ingredient in cooking a sumptuous and delicious meal. No matter the number of other ingredients used in cooking a soup, for instance, if salt is not added, money, effort and time has just been wasted. Salt is important and useful for seasoning, sweetening and preservation. Salt is also medicinal. A small amount of it in water, when taken, can stabilise stomach pain for many persons.
Right after Christ taught on the Beatitudes, He called His disciples the salt of the earth. He didn’t call everyone the salt of the earth but those who took the further step of sitting with Him on the Mount. Disciples have the responsibility to restore sweetness and love in the world full of hatred, bitterness and sourness.
As a disciple of Christ, you must understand that your life is supposed to impact the lives of others in very positive ways. You cannot live as though you are not important to the world. You are God’s agent for preserving peace and Godliness in the world.
But unfortunately, many professing Christians are no longer interested in living to bring transformation to their immediate environments. You are relevant in God’s agenda to establish His Kingdom on earth but if you fail to fulfill your own part, you become useless.
What makes salt lose its sweetness is the addition of impurities and also when it is left for long without being used. You cannot continue to live in sin and expect to be impactful in the world, and so also, can you not continue to be dormant and useless and expect to have a lasting impact in the earth.
Dear Believer, see to it that you live your life to bring transformation and healing to many. Don’t lose your power nor your effectiveness. Christ needs you to step up and rise up as the world needs men who would stand up against all odds to bring transformation. Don’t lose your saltiness. Christ is counting on you. Blessings.
Practical Application: Identify the various issues in your immediate environment that needs your input to be stabilized. Pray and seek the help of the Holy Spirit for instructions that will bring solutions to the problem.
Confession: I am chosen by the Lord to bring sweetness and pleasantness to this world. Evil does not thrive where I am. I am an ambassador of God and I bring goodness to all around me.
