WORSHIP – MAN’S WHOLE ESSENCE (12)

“Bless and affectionately praise the Lord, O my soul, And all that is [deep] within me, bless His holy name. Bless and affectionately praise the Lord, O my soul, And do not forget any of His benefits.” – Psalm 103:1-2 (AMP)

Gratitude is the act and art of appreciation. Giving thanks for what has been done for one is the right way to live. God is the One who has created all we can see and behold and He blesses humans with blessings of different kinds. The Psalmist makes a call and says, “bless the Lord, O my soul!” and this is like making a call into action.

The whole being of man is supposed to be participatory in the worship of God. Both the heart and soul of man must partake in worship because it is possible for a man to praise and honour God with his lips yet his heart would be far from God, this kind of worship is not acceptable to God. It is a call to alignment which the Psalmist made, that his soul aligns with what his mouth does in the worship of Yahweh.

Dear one whom the Lord has done so much good for, never praise God in deceit. How is this possible? It is deceitful to praise and honour God with your lips while your life does nothing to honour God. When you call in agreement your soul and heart to bless the Lord, you must also do that in your character. Never at any point forget the goodness of God because in this forgetfulness lies worries, ingratitude, and complaints before God.

It is possible for you to forget some of God’s goodness when there is a storm or an unpleasant situation that looks like God won’t intervene in. Even in moments like this, you must learn to trust the God who has brought you thus far. Once your spirit is thankful to God even in that difficult situation, you are thus maintaining a high level of trust in God.

Practical Application: Difficult situations tend to increase the voice of worry in the human mind, but you must never allow that voice sound louder in you than that of gratitude.

Confession: My soul blesses the Lord always for every of God’s goodness enjoyed and even in trials and tribulations, I will never forget the benefits of God. My life shall always be lived in gratitude to God for His blessings and mercies.
