“There is a season (a time appointed) for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1 (AMP)
Having an understanding that God has given time to every human to use on earth to fulfil His will and purpose for them is one of the best gifts of man. God gave time to man to profit and maximize and what a man does with his time defines the essence of his life and what his focus is all about. Any man that wastes time to do irrelevant things is a man that is wasting his life. The fulfilment of purpose is tied to the value placed on time.
But beyond this, man must understand that what helps me to truly appreciate the value of time is by surrendering it to God. God owns time for He is the Creator of it even though He Himself dwells in eternity but He still operates with the consideration of the time of man which is limited. Man owes God his time and must surrender and give his time to God. Who you give your time to is who you give your life to.
Does giving God your time mean that you should make the church your home where you literally stay? Does giving God your time exclude you from labouring with your hands in your sphere of influence? Absolutely not! What does this mean then? It means that you honour God with your time. What do you do first thing in the morning? How much attention do you give to God? There are many who give their optimal attention to some other things apart from God.
Dear believer, you have been called to influence the world wherever you are, but your impact in the world must not replace your time with God. If God cannot control the use of your time, it means He cannot control your life. God created time to give man a sense of purpose and accomplishment; therefore, you must honour Him with it. Use your time for what brings glory, honour and profiting to God wherever you may be.
Reflections: How often do I spend time with God? Is God happy with the use of my time? Have I surrendered my time to God?
Confession: The Lord is my Shepherd, and I am the sheep of His pasture. I stay in Him and I receive nourishment for my soul. I am energized by His power and grace. I use my time to honour and glorify Him always.
