THE EFFICACY OF PRAYER (1)

“Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) is able to accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].” – James 5:16 (AMP)

Apostle James have written to the elects and the body of believers who were Hebrews scattered all abroad in Gentile nations and, by extension, everyone who would come to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation on different important matters of the faith. He’s admonished us on different salient matters but now, he concludes with a powerful exposition and instruction.

James 5:13-18 is a discuss on the effectiveness and transforming power of prayers. You must understand that as a believer, you cannot afford to not pray. Throughout the life and ministry of Jesus Christ on the earth, He showed His disciples that prayer is a necessity. Prayer is not just bombarding God with different requests but it is having a heart posture of total dependence on God.

As the new month starts today, the focus for this month shall be on prayer. You need to see and understand that prayer is a necessity for you if you will live a fulfilled life as a disciple of Christ. Prayer is so powerful and effective that it can alter the natural order of things. God designed prayer as a means through which we communicate with Him and also align our hearts with His will so that His will can be done on the earth.

If there is anything you must do more than anything else is that you pray. If there is any life you must live more than anything else, it is the life of prayer. You must redeem the times in the place of prayer. You must allow yourself to totally depend on God. Various men and women in the Scripture prayed and experienced the power of God. If you will also experience the power of God at work in your life, you have no other option than to pray. Challenge yourself to pray and make your requests known to God with thanksgiving. Let your heart be aligned to His will so that His Word can come to pass in your life.

Reflection: Prayer is important and necessary for me to live as a disciple indeed. If I do not pray, I forfeit a lot of things in my walk with the Lord.

Confession: I decree that I am chosen, loved, saved, sanctified and empowered unto every good work.
