THE FATHER’S HEART (4)

“For after all these things do the Gentiles seek: for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” – Matthew 6:32 (KJV)

Have you ever wondered what God thinks about the things that keep you awake at night?

In Matthew 6:25–34, Jesus speaks directly about worry. He mentions food, drink, clothing and tomorrow—ordinary needs that can easily become sources of fear. But Jesus does not simply tell His listeners to stop worrying. He reveals something about the One they can trust: their heavenly Father.

Jesus points to the birds of the air. They do not sow or gather into barns, yet the Father feeds them. Then He points to the flowers of the field, which are beautifully clothed by God. His question is simple: if the Father cares for His creation, how much more will He care for His children?

This is where the Father’s heart becomes clear. Jesus says, “Your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” The Father is not unaware of what concerns you. He knows your needs before you explain them. He knows the burden behind the prayer, the fear behind the silence and the need behind the tears.

Jesus is not saying that we should become careless or stop planning. He is teaching us not to become controlled by anxiety. There is a difference between preparing for tomorrow and carrying tomorrow before it arrives. We can do what today requires and trust God with what is beyond our control.

That is why Jesus says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness.” The answer to a worried heart is not simply to think less; it is to put God first. When we remember who our Father is, our needs no longer have to become our master.

Then Jesus says, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow.” Tomorrow matters, but tomorrow is not yours to carry today. You have today’s grace, today’s strength and today’s Father.

Perhaps you have been trying to solve tomorrow while God is asking you to trust Him today. You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you know who holds you. That is the comfort of the Father’s heart.

You are not facing life as an orphan. You have a Father who knows, a Father who cares and a Father who invites you to trust Him.

Reflection:

Am I trusting my heavenly Father with tomorrow, or am I allowing tomorrow to steal the peace God has given me today?

Key Point:

Anxiety loses its power when we remember that we are not orphans. We have a heavenly Father who knows our needs, cares for us and calls us to seek Him first.

Confession:

My heavenly Father knows me and cares for me.
I will not allow anxiety to rule my heart.
I surrender tomorrow into His hands.
I will seek His kingdom before everything else.
I trust my Father because He knows what I need.

Short Prayer:

Father, thank You because You know what I need and You care about me. Help me to stop carrying tomorrow and trust You with what I cannot control. Teach me to seek You first and rest in Your love. Amen.
