Joshua 1:8 (NKJV)
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
In Joshua 1:8, God gives Joshua a clear key to success, not in strategies, titles, or strength, but in Scripture. As he stepped into leadership with a daunting task ahead, God told him to root his life in the Word. The same is true for us today: lasting success begins with a Word-saturated life.
“Meditate in it day and night.”
Biblical meditation isn’t passive or abstract. It’s active, intentional. To meditate is to think deeply, to speak the Word aloud, to turn it over in your mind until it shapes how you think and live. It’s not just something you do in the morning, it’s a continual dialogue with God through His Word all day and even into the night.
Meditation trains your heart to hear God’s voice above all others. It anchors truth deep within, so when pressure comes, wisdom rises. Over time, this practice transforms Scripture from something you read into something you become. You move from information to revelation, and from revelation to transformation.
But meditation doesn’t end with reflection, it leads to obedience: “that you may observe to do.” God’s Word was never meant to stay on the page. It’s meant to be lived. A Scripture you know but do not apply hasn’t truly taken root. Meditation prepares you to obey, and obedience positions you to walk in God’s best.
The result? “You will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” This isn’t worldly success, it’s divine success: living in God’s purpose, walking in peace, bearing fruit that lasts. God prospers the path of the one who walks in step with His Word.
So let the Word stay with you, on your lips, in your heart, and in your thoughts. Day and night. In every season and every situation. Let your life echo with the voice of God through His Word.
Confession: I meditate on God’s Word day and night. It fills my mind, shapes my heart, and directs my steps. I walk in obedience, and God causes me to prosper in His will.
