Matthew 5:14 (NKJV)
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
On a wonderful and impactful day, Jesus sat on the mountain to teach His disciples and the crowd by extension in Matthew 5. He started the teaching with the Beatitudes and then, He proceeded to reveal the identity of the disciples in this world. No believer can have an identity that is different from that which Jesus had while on earth.
Jesus Christ called His disciples the light of the world, that is to let us know that we are meant to express all that Jesus is on earth. We are meant to stand out and not hide. Light is seen and visible, Light doesn’t cower in the presence of darkness, rather darkness flee because it can’t comprehend light. The issues we have in political world, academia, entertainment industry, finance world, health world and even in ministry is because those that are meant to shine in those spaces are not shining.
The world wouldn’t be in this chaos, if each light stands to his assignment without backing off and compromising. The dark world isn’t the issue, the dimmed lights are the issue. The more you dim and withdraw your light, the higher the tendency for it to go off completely. What sphere of influence has Jesus called you to shine as light? Stop wasting time, shun fear and SHINE BRIGHT.
Confession: Christ has called me as the light of the world therefore, I will intentionally shine wherever I may be.
