In the few years I have spent as a Christian missionary, I have come to realise that something is missing in many of our churches today. I believe this is one of the key reasons we are seeing fewer grounded and convincing young Christians in our time. If we do not change the narrative, we risk raising a generation with even fewer true Christians.
I have observed that we have many young people who know song lyrics, understand trends, and can name the most popular preachers. Some are even proudly involved in ‘ministry’. Yet many have never genuinely wept for the lost, never shared the Gospel with an unbeliever. Some may claim they have, but upon closer examination, it becomes clear that they merely invited another immature believer to a ‘better’ church assembly. What we see instead is a Church filled with disloyal and undiscipled Christians; individuals with affiliations to two or more different congregations. Many do not even understand what the term unreached means, something that should deeply concern the Church.
God is still seeking those who, like Isaiah, will say, “Here am I. Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)
He is still calling young hearts who are willing to go beyond the four walls of the Church—into villages, cities, schools, and nations where Christ has not yet been named.
God’s plan for the Gospel has always been that it should spread across the world until the last person hears.
Jesus stated clearly in Mark 16:15, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” This is why He gave us power, so we could be His witnesses (Acts 1:8). The power is not for showing off or gaining influence, but for the purpose of leading souls to salvation, healing, and discipleship.
The Great Commission is not a suggestion; it is a command. If we do not raise our young people to love missions, to pray for the unreached, to give sacrificially to missions and missionaries, and to go when God calls, we will end up raising a generation that loves the Church lifestyle, but not the Christ who died for and sent the Church.
We must intentionally teach young men and women that Christianity without missions is incomplete.
We must show them that the souls of men matter more than the status of men.
We must live out the truth of our messages before their eyes, proving to them that eternity is more urgent than entertainment.
We need more young people who are willing to weep for hours, not asking for spouses or houses, not for money or degrees, but weeping for souls; that they might be saved and discipled.
The harvest is still plentiful, but sadly, the labourers remain few (Luke 10:2).
Let us pray.
Let us preach.
Let us prepare.
Let us send.
Let us build a generation that will take the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
