Never allow your heart to be SEDUCED by the temptation to turn STONES TO BREAD.
Many have done so and regretted it with some carrying what I call SPIRITUAL APPENDICES which are unnecessary growths that are born of COMPROMISE, which are tolerated at first, but capable of quietly infecting and eventually killing the work in the hand of a minister of the Gospel.
You must understand that, no matter how attractive it is, if you accept the devil’s provision as a substitute for God’s process, you will end up paying for it.
Adam and Eve did not fall because there was no provision, they fell despite the abundance in the garden, filled with trees that are “PLEASANT TO THE SIGHT AND GOOD FOR FOOD” (Genesis 2:9), hunger was not their problem at all because they had more than enough to eat.
However, at the centre of the Garden were two trees: the TREE OF LIFE which was God’s supply for ETERNAL DEPENDENCE, and the TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD AND EVIL, which God expressly forbade.
That forbidden tree was not neutral ground but it was the devil’s trap that was masked as WISDOM, INDEPENDENCE, and PROGRESS, aided by the devil.
The serpent did not tempt them with something that was obviously evil. He offered something that looked GOOD, promised ENLIGHTENMENT, and appeared USEFUL, yet it came from the WRONG SOURCE, and that made all the difference.
The Bible says, “She SAW that the TREE was GOOD for food… and DESIRABLE to make one WISE” (Genesis 3:6).
Good to the eyes.
Good to the appetite.
Good to the mind.
Yet DEADLY TO THE SOUL.
Fast forward to the wilderness.
Jesus, the LAST ADAM, faced the same adversary.
After forty days of fasting, hunger was real and STONES were available and POWER was present.
The suggestion was subtle: “If You are the Son of God, command these STONES to become BREAD” (Matthew 4:3).
Bread itself is not evil. Hunger is legitimate, but the SOURCE and TIMING, for Jesus, were wrong.
To turn stones to bread at that moment would mean stepping outside dependence on the Father and submitting to Satan’s terms, and JESUS REFUSED by saying, “Man shall not live by BREAD ALONE, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4).
The issue is not whether something is GOOD or BAD but WHERE it is coming from.
What is the SOURCE?
WHO is authoring it?
WHAT spirit is backing it?
The minister must KNOW that not every open door is God-sent.
Not every provision is divine.
Not every opportunity is permitted simply because it is possible.
Many ministries have been WOUNDED, WEAKENED, or outrightly destroyed by provision that did not come from God and shortcuts that bypassed OBEDIENCE, resources that demanded SILENCE, platforms that required COMPROMISE, and bread that came from STONES.
Dear minister,
Please choose hunger with God over abundance with the devil.
Choose process over shortcuts.
Choose the Tree of Life over every attractive alternative.
