Dear Missionary (2)

Dear Missionary,

In these times, when confusion is increasing and many voices are rising, it has become very necessary for every missionary to be grounded in the truth of Christ because your assignment is not shaped by culture, convenience, or the opinions of men, but by the unchanging Word of God.

There are Churches today that subtly embrace Universalism which is the unchristian idea that everyone will eventually be saved regardless of their belief in Christ. The danger of such doctrine is that this kind of doctrine often hides behind soft language such as “God understands,” “All paths lead to God,” “We are all serving the same God,” or “Let us focus on love, and not doctrine.”

As missionaries, we must be very discerning. Universalism will weaken the urgency and even the potency of missions, because if “everyone will eventually be saved,” then why do we preach to unbelievers? Why do we make the sacrifices we make? Why do we go to the nations? Why do we labour for the souls of men?

The Bible is clear when it states that:

“There is NO OTHER NAME under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

As missionaries, our love for the lost must be genuine, tender, and compelling, but also our message must be PURE, CENTRED ON CHRIST and UNCOMPROMISED.

Yes, we are called to love unbelievers deeply, but we must also be firm in the Gospel, not embracing or promoting teachings that undermine the Lordship of Christ or the necessity of repentance and faith.

As you go out to the villages, towns, cities, and nations, beware of voices, sometimes even religious voice, that encourage compromise in the name of “peace” or “unity.” Stand in the truth. Live for the truth. Preach the truth because missions without truth is mere charity, but missions with truth is what translates to transformation.

Stay faithful. Stay discerning. Stay aflame.

The Gospel we carry is still the power of God unto salvation.

Grace to you,

Peter Jerry
