Hebrews 11:1 (AMP)
“Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].”
If there is any requirement that is explicitly revealed in the Scriptures to be major in a man’s walk with God, it is Faith. Faith is a word that has always been used by many, believers and unconsciously, unbelievers alike. This word is most times used to mean believe. When a man believes in an entity or personality, it is said to be faith. What, then, is Faith?
The widely accepted definition is from Hebrews 11:1 as reflected in the reference text for today. Faith as it is simply known is a life and a lifestyle. King James Version puts it that; “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” This, therefore means that faith has nothing to do with the visible but the invisible. It is a character of the heart to have the confidence that what is hoped for, even if not yet seen will become a reality.
Faith is seeing with the heart’s eye that which is yet to become a reality to the physical. Faith is a spiritual quality, not physical. The physical says “seeing is believing” while the spiritual says “even if I do not see it, yet I will believe it.” That which is seen is no more believed by faith but by reality and therefore faith is no more relevant.
Faith brings to a man an assurance of peace and rest in the storm and salvation in the battle. Faith is an outward expression and disposition of an inward conviction and assurance that, although many do not fathom, yet it is powerful and soothing to the practitioner. Faith also means trust in the invisible.
There is a measure of faith given unto every man. And more so, it is by this faith that a man stays with God in the midst of the storm and trial, daring to be different and be extraordinary.
You cannot serve God obediently and diligently without faith. Do you have faith in God?
Confession: I am a light in a dark world, a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden. My life is governed by faith, not by fear; by the Word, not by the world. I dare to believe what others doubt, I dare to attempt what others avoid, and I dare to live for Christ when others live for themselves.
