“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.” – Matthew 17:20
In the 19th century, Hudson Taylor, the pioneering missionary to China, faced enormous obstacles as he confronted cultural barriers, language challenges, health crises, and societal opposition. Yet his unwavering faith in God enabled him to establish the China Inland Mission, reaching millions with the Gospel. His belief was simple but profound and it was that even the smallest measure of faith, when exercised consistently, can overcome seemingly impossible barriers. Mountains, whether spiritual, relational, or physical, yield when faith is persistent, courageous, and rooted in God.
Faith is not about quantity but all about trust and obedience. Even a small amount, when applied to God’s promises, can produce extraordinary results. Mountains in life like problems, fears, or obstacles, cannot withstand prayer, faith, and actions that are aligned with God’s Word. Hudson Taylor’s life shows us that when we refuse to rely on human strength and instead lean fully on God, even the largest challenges begin to move. Faith activates God’s power and opens new possibilities.
Practical Application:
Identify one “mountain” in your life today such as a problem, fear, or challenge, and speak to it in faith, declaring God’s authority over it.
Confession: I walk by faith, not by sight. Mountains in my life move at the word of God. I believe and act in obedience, and nothing can stop God’s power in me. Amen
