John 10:27 (AMP)
“The sheep that are My own hear My voice and listen to Me; I know them, and they follow Me.”
One proven and glaring character of God through the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation is that He speaks. Unfortunately, when God speaks, not everyone hears. Without the nature of God, it’ll be impossible to hear the Lord. You can only recognize the voice of someone you know. If you do not know God, even when He speaks to you, you might not hear and even mistake His voice for something else.
The first and most important qualification for hearing God is SALVATION. This means that your spirit has been regenerated and reconciled with God through faith in Christ Jesus. Once you’re saved, you have the privilege of hearing God. Don’t go about confused because you don’t know what to do. Keep still and listen to what God has to say to you. If you don’t pay attention, you may discover that you lose out on what God is saying over time.
The way God speaks to you is a weapon in your hand. God’s words to you keep you going in seasons of dryness and discouragement. God’s words uphold and strengthen in times of weakness. Hearing God is important and crucial, and it is an advantage you have for being His. So, if you are not hearing God, you might want to examine yourself to see if you are still in the faith before other factors are considered. Incline your heart to God’s Word always.
Confession: My heart is inclined to hear God’s Word at all times.
