How to Walk in God’s Will (4)

Hebrews 11:8 (AMP)

“By faith Abraham, when he was called [by God], obeyed by going to a place which he was to receive as an inheritance; and he went, not knowing where he was going.”

Obedience is a vital key in walking in God’s will.  God’s words and instructions are meant to be followed fully and immediately. You cannot obey God partially or later. It must be done promptly. What gives a strong basis for living in the will of God is obedience. It is already against the will of God if anyone lives in disobedience to His instructions.

We need to respond to God without rationalising or negotiating. When God asked Abraham to leave his father’s and mother’s land for a strange land, he obeyed even when he did not know where he was going. Even when he did not understand what God was really doing, he did not ask a question. He obeyed, and he enjoyed the benefit of obedience.

God sent Jonah to Nineveh, but he resisted and delayed God’s assignment. The disobedience led him into disaster. Timing is important in doing the perfect will of God. Jonah later did what God asked him to do, but it was delayed obedience, which is not better than outright disobedience. Both attract similar punishment. Learn to be prompt in your obedience.

Confession: Like Abraham, I choose to walk in prompt obedience.
