“Then they came, bringing to Him a paralyzed man, who was being carried by four men. When they were unable to get to Him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above Jesus; and when they had dug out an opening, they let down the mat on which the paralyzed man was lying.” – Mark 2:3-4 (AMP)
Relationships are powerful and they are very important to the existence of man and to his experiences in different capacities and areas. There was this man who was paralyzed, which means obviously, he couldn’t walk or move himself but he was in a pitiable condition. Possibly many means have been sought for him to be healed but none worked. And now, those around him must have heard of man, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who had been anointed to heal all manners of sicknesses.
These man had four men who could sacrifice their time to bring him to the place where he would be heal. They didn’t just wait that maybe someday Jesus would come around to their location but they sought where Jesus was and took him there. Now, interestingly, when they got to where He was, they couldn’t enter easily by the entrance because of the crowd. They didn’t g discouraged and go back home. They were determined to see their friend and brother healed come what may. What did they do?
They did the unthinkable. They removed the tiles in the roof and dropped him down on his bed. What a determination! What an effort! What a faith! They knew that all they needed was for Jesus to set eyes on him and that would settle his case. The paralyzed man was healed. Now, you need to pay attention to this very well. Who are your friends? What kind of relationship do you keep? Do you have people who can go out of their way to make sure that what issue you have in any area of your life is sorted? Do you have people who can go to God on your behalf to ensure that your life experiences transformation?
Has anyone told you that you can do life alone? Well, they were quite wrong. You won’t always be strong enough to help yourself. Build quality and meaningful relationship with those who are close to you. Your friends will either lead you to God or lead you away from Him. God still work miracles because of those who take their time to mediate between you and God. Many people have experienced miracles because people were praying for them, not really because of their own righteousness or efforts. Check your circle. Can God do that miracle in your life because of the kind of people you relate closely with? These are questions worth reflecting on.
Reflections: Reflect on the questions in the exposition above and answer as appropriate. Make adjustments where necessary.
Confession: I am God’s beloved, redeemed and sanctified by the blood of Jesus. For me, miracles are real and they are realized in my life daily.
