“Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will be restored to you and you will be clean.” But Naaman was furious and went away and said, “Indeed! I thought ‘He would at least come out to [see] me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place [of leprosy] and heal the leper.’” – 2 Kings 5:10-11 (AMP)

Naama was the commander of the army of the king of Syria and he was a great and honorable man because great victories were wrought through him, he was a mighty man of valor but he was a leper. What a contradiction. He had a lot of good qualities that one would be proud of but he suffered from a sickness that could shut him out of the society completely. Listening to the advice of young girl from Israel who was a slave to his family, he went to meet the prophet Elisha.

Even before he set his eyes on the prophet, instruction was passed across to him that he should go to wash in River Jordan seven times and he would be made whole and clean. Upon hearing this, he became furious. He expected some dramatic things to be done for him to be whole. Many times, the instructions that birth the miraculous are too simple for the high and mighty to heed and this brings the conclusion that a proud man cannot receive God’s miracles.

His servants advised him to listen to the instruction and do what was commanded. And it was in his obedience that he received his miracle. One of the things you need to check is your heart posture and response to the Word of God. Many people are still experiencing delay because they disobey “simple” instructions that should have given them access to what they need.

Dear believer, never be haughty in your heart against the instructions from the Lord or think that an instruction is too simple to birth the miraculous that you desire. It doesn’t have to be dramatic and complicated to be God, it can be simple and straightforward and it will be God. Learn to be humble. Humility unlocks the miraculous in unprecedented ways.

Reflection: The miraculous is mostly accessed by heeding simple instructions with humility.

Confession: I am born of God and I have the Spirit of Christ in me. My heart is humble and does not rebel against the Lord. For me, miracles are real and they are manifested in my life daily.
