1 Corinthians 13:5 (NLT)
”Or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.”
Love forgives easily. Love doesn’t keep a record of wrongdoings. Love covers all transgressions. The love of Christ is so powerful that if you come into Christ, your sins are washed away and forgiven. It becomes an old thing that can never be associated with the new you. Also, as children of God, who embody the love of Christ, we should not keep record of wrongdoings, but we should be eager to forgive and let go of offences completely.
We shouldn’t ponder on people’s offences against us, but also intentionally fill our thoughts with positive thoughts of forgiveness and willingness to let go of offences. Remember that love forgives. It is very easy to remember offences and forget that we were also forgiven by God for nothing. Anger, the book of Proverbs says, rests in the bosom of fools. And as God’s children, He expects us to be wise and not to be held bound by our emotions.
Our hearts should not be a breeding ground for offences; we should try our best to completely let go of offences. We shouldn’t be like the foolish servant whose master forgave a lot of debt in Matthew 18, but found it difficult to reciprocate the same towards his brother. The Bible admonishes us that just as God forgives us, we should forgive one another and live in love. Hence, we should keep no record of offences in our hearts, that our hearts may remain pure and true.
Confession: My heart is not filled with bitterness and hatred, but love, which forgives others.
