Love Isn’t Proud

1 Corinthians 13:4-5 NLT

”…Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.”

A proud man is an enemy of God. A proud man has no portion with God. The Bible encourages believers to be humble. A believer who has encountered the love of God and has realized how unworthy he was of His love before He got saved will maintain a humble spirit.

A rude person destroys with the tongue. Love doesn’t destroy. As Christians, the words that should come out of our mouths should make and not destroy. We can’t use the same mouth we use to curse, despise, gossip, backbite, and insult to proclaim blessing and make life; they’re two contrasting things. The love of God in us should shun all forms of pride. If we walk in love, it’ll show in our vocabulary to our brethren. A man of love speaks honourable words to his brother.

‎You can’t say you love your brother if you disrespect him with your words and actions. The Bible admonishes us that our word be seasoned with grace. Don’t bully with your words, don’t attack with your words, don’t disrespect boundaries, don’t provoke with your words. Treat your brother with honour, because we are all a royal priesthood. As you would speak to a king, speak to your brother.

Confession: I treat and speak with my brethren as I would relate with a king.
