1 Corinthians 13:5 (NLT)
”Or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.”
The idol many worship today is self. Many who are Christians still worship self unconsciously. All they are about is themselves. God loves the world and gave up Jesus so that those who receive Him could be saved. God exemplified that Christians are to do things that will help others.
Love makes room for others. Love makes room for others to express themselves. Love doesn’t shun or suppress others. Love gives way for others to be heard and seen. A person who insists on his or her right always without leaving room for sacrifice for his or her brethren is not perfect in love. Love doesn’t insist on its right. Love gives room for others.
It’s not every time you would be proven right. Sometimes you might be sincerely misunderstood. For the sake of proving, you shouldn’t go about hurling hurtful words and acting in a rude way to prove a point. Situations will come when you have to let go of your right for the sake of love and prioritize others’ rights. It might be two parties who are not getting each other in the moment, don’t insist on their right and cause irrevocable damage. Instead, let go and let love rule. Damage will be averted, and you’ll have your chance to explain yourself later. Remember, let love rule.
Confession: I let love rule in all of my relationships with others.
