2 Corinthians 12:15 (AMP)
“But I will very gladly spend [my own resources] and be utterly spent for your souls. If I love you greatly, am I to be loved less [by you]?”
Apostle Paul was a missionary to Corinth. He forsook all for the excellency of the Gospel to be experienced amongst the Gentiles. And from time to time, he asked that fellow believers should pray for him as he went about the Kingdom business. Prayer for the missionaries on the field is as essential as prayers for the fruits of the labour.
Moreover, effective mission labour requires a lot of resources. Missions are expensive, but being expensive is not enough reason why we would not engage in them. God has blessed every believer with resources in different forms, that is, not just money, which can be useful for the work of missions. There are many villages and unreached people groups that would see the light of the Gospel if believers were willing to spend on the Gospel.
Dear Believer, one of the important things Christ has called you to is to give to the work of missions as the Kingdom expands. Some churches collect offerings for this purpose, and some individuals do it as the Lord stirs their hearts, but we can still do more and better. There are many missionaries who are hindered in their delivery because of the lack or insufficiency of resources.
Many a Christian spends so much on ephemeral things and gives none or little to propagate the Gospel; this is an attitude that individuals must check and adjust. What purpose do your resources serve if you can give them in service of the One who has given them to you? Making a decision to give towards the work of missions is an important step that will bear eternal results.
