THANKSGIVING AND ADORATION

“Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.” – Matthew 6:9 (AMP)

Prayer is powerful and it is important to a believer’s life. Prayer is not just mechanical, it is spiritual and effective in causing change and transformation in a man’s life. When pray with faith to God and according to His will, we receive answers from Him.

As believers, we should know that prayer has different kinds. Each prayer has its own purpose and it’s very important for us to know them. One of the kinds of prayer that you must have knowledge of is the prayer of thanksgiving and adoration.

What is thanksgiving? This is an act of giving thanks to God in appreciation of what He has done in our lives. It’s to show how grateful we are for His mighty works and power in our lives. Thanks is also given to God even while the prayer requests are still on our lips (Philippians 4:6).

What is adoration? This is an act of showing deep love, reverence, worship and honour to God for who He is. It focuses on God’s power, majesty, character, holiness and greatness.

Revelation 4:11 (KJV)

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

Combining the two, God expects us to live a life of thanksgiving towards Him. He wants us to live a life where we acknowledge His presence in our lives.

Prayer isn’t always about asking, but it also involves us giving to God the word of thanks from our hearts and lips, adoring Him for who He is. These two show how much we love Him and our acknowledgement of His purpose in our lives

Just like in Matthew 6:9, before we make our requests known to God, let’s thank Him for what He has done. Let’s adore His divine presence in our lives.

Prayer isn’t always about asking, it also involves giving God praise from our hearts and souls.

Reflection: Practice giving thanks to the Lord today, don’t ask for anything, just praise Him, adore him and worship His Holy name.

Confession: My heart is filled with the testimony of God’s goodness and my mouth expresses His praise. The Lord is good to me and so I am glad. I rejoice in Him always and I give Him thanks for all He’s done for me.
