Stand Out (2)

Daniel 1:8 (NKJV)

“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.”

Compromise is not a word and not an act that started to exist in this age, it’s always been used in the era of humans. And it didn’t have to be loud but the One who has called His own to be different can easily spot the compromise. Daniel and his three friends, though still very young, stood up to be different from the usual of their days, and that is what is called separation.

As soon as they stood up, there was clearly a separation from the world. It was as if others were waving a blue flag and they were waving a white one. These men refused to follow the culture and lifestyle of Babylon. They were the separated ones. They could not eat what others could eat easily. They could not drink what others were drinking with ease. They could not do what others did without caution. They were clearly different from others in everything.

The truth is that today‘s generation is the same as Daniel’s time; not at all different from each other. It is not only the unbelievers that are under the ruling of Babylon; even the so-called people of God, so-called Christians, are also in the same captivity.

Daniel and his 3 friends were not only the Hebrew men that were captured but it’s so heartbreaking that we didn’t hear anything about them and that would definitely be because they decided to conform to the norms of Babylon. Babylon has nothing to offer us as believers, though packaged beautifully. You can reign or rule in a place where you’re conformed to, but our reign and dominance as Christians start the day we decide to stand out just as Daniel had his friends did.

Confession: I make an uncompromising decision to stand out even in this evil generation.
