The Godly Queen Hadassah (1)

Esther 2:20 (AMP)

“Now Esther had not yet revealed her nationality or her people, for she obeyed Mordecai ‘s command to her [to fear God and execute His commands] just as when she was being brought up by him.”

Once upon a time in a vast empire of 127 provinces, lived a king who made a great feast for all the nobles and governors in his kingdom for 180 days, showing them his splendour and excellence, him being a great king. And as a way of showing forth further that he had all things, he desired that his beautiful queen be called upon to come and display her beauty in the presence of all that came to grace the occasion. And when this queen received this command of the king, she refused to honour it nor did she respond adequately to it. Her pride annoyed the king and all that was present at the occasion. The king was then advised to divorce her so that it could serve as a lesson to other women in the empire, teaching them to honour their husbands. And the king agreed to this.

And after the ceremony, the king could not stay without a queen and so he accepted the advise that certain virgin ladies be searched for in the whole of the empire and test and prove them, to know which one would please the king both in beauty and conduct. In this same land lived a man, a Jew, Mordecai by name who had a young lady he had been raising since her parents died. This lady was one he had trained in the ways of the Lord and given specific instructions regarding her conduct and character. The lady’s name is Esther, a beautiful young lady with a chaste character. She was also chosen to be among the virgin ladies that would be proved for the king to marry. And at the end of it all, she was chosen for she found favour and grace in the sight of all, and most importantly in the sight of the King who loved her dearly.

But the king never knew where she was from nor did she expose her background to anyone and this did not happen because she did not want to talk about it but it was because Mordecai, the man who raised her had instructed her not to do so at this time. But wasn’t she free already and matured enough to make her own decision? Yes, she was but she chose to be obedient and humble, trusting the words of her foster father. The life of this lady has a lot to teach you today as a Christian that whatever level you find yourself as a result of promotion, do not exalt thyself above that which is expected. Choose to maintain your humble and obedient character, not despising those that the Lord had used to create the appreciated value in you.

Confession: No matter the height I attain in live, I do not forget who I am in Christ.
