Esther 4:16
“Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast for me; and neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. I also and my maids will fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law; and if I perish, I perish.”
When the Scripture says in Proverbs 22.6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it”, this admonition was for the purpose of raising godly children who would rather walk in the ways of God than those of the ungodly. Whatever it is that a child has learnt from childhood is what such a child will build upon when becoming an adult, and this is the reason for peace in many homes today, while the negligence of that admonition is the reason for war and trouble in society and many homes today as well.
Mordecai must have raised Esther in such a way that she couldn’t do anything without praying to God first. When this trouble of Haman came upon them both in Shushan and in the 127 provinces of this kingdom, the only solution Esther could think of was that all the Jews, including herself and her maids, would fast and pray before she approached the king to make her request. Do not be angry if you engage a physical approach to sort out a matter and it fails when you haven’t fought the spiritual battle victoriously. Esther recognised that she could not do anything without making this matter known to God and then trusting Him only for the solution and wisdom needed.
You must understand that your life is not for you alone, but for the glory of God to be made manifest in whatever situation you find yourself. There is always a need to stand in the gap so that the purposes of God can come to pass, and such a person relies on God totally. You must understand that a man who would make a difference in this world and in any situation must be one who knows how to humble himself before the mighty hand of God so that he might be exalted in due time. Esther did not fight Haman with physical weapons, but she engaged the spiritual first before taking the battle to be physical. Let your reliance on God be the foundation of your victory. Walk in this victory at all times, and the devil won’t be able to overcome you.
Confession: Christ has won the victory for me, and I walk in the reality of this victory.
