The Light (4)

Text: Isaiah 60:1-2 (AMP)

“Arise [from spiritual depression to a new life], shine [be radiant with the glory and brilliance of the Lord]; for your light has come, and the glory and brilliance of the Lord has risen upon you. For in fact, darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness will cover the peoples; But the Lord will rise upon you [Jerusalem] And His glory and brilliance will be seen on you.”

The world is a placed filled with darkness even before the beauty of creation was begotten into reality. The most natural response to the presence of darkness is light for darkness is the absence of light. God doesn’t desire that every life and sphere on earth be filled with darkness but since the devil is the prince of this world, his natural atmosphere, darkness, rules the affairs of the world.

Today’s passage gives a glimpse into the normal and deep level of darkness that the earth and the people’s can be in. The response to both levels is light. By revelation, these two levels are experienced by different categories of people on earth. Whoever refuses to accept the existence and sovereignty of God as his soul lie in deep darkness.

Men who are in deep darkness believe that they are in existence, not by the power of the Supreme Being, God, but by some logical and/or scientific explanation. In other words, this set of people are comfortable living their lives without giving thought to the One who rules in the affairs of men.

Psalm 53:1 – “The [empty-headed] fool has said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt and evil are they, and doing abominable iniquity; there is none who does good.” (AMP)

The way to rid this set of people from the darkness which has so much engrossed their hearts is to let them know that Christ Jesus, who is the Light of the world, has come to deliver them their from the darkness which oppresses their souls. You must never come to a point where you passively believe there is no God. Let light actively shine in your heart for therein lies your continued deliverance.

Confession: With active faith in my heart, I believe in the existence of God, now and always.
