THE MAN OF THE FAITH – ABRAHAM (1)

Genesis 15:6 (AMP)

“And he [Abram] believed in (trusted in, relied on, remained steadfast to) the Lord, and He counted it to him as righteousness (right standing with God).”

Abraham, as he is popularly known, is the father of faith, and this name was given to him for a reason. He received an instruction from God and spontaneously obeyed without questioning God. It was recorded in the Bible that Abraham left his country as the Lord had spoken to him, which means he carried out God’s instruction just as he had heard it. He travelled to a land that he had never been to before, had no idea whatsoever of what the place looked like or how the people over there behaved, and never had knowledge of anything at all about the land, yet he obeyed and went.

Abraham believed in God, and it was counted to him for righteousness, although he was yet to see the promise of God coming to manifestation. Despite all odds, he BELIEVED. Is this applicable to you as a Christian today? Won’t you find another way around it since God seems too late for you?

Even when that which God has promised to do for you is not coming forth yet, will you still believe and keep trusting the process? It is not easy, right? Yes, it is not, but it can only be with the help of God; Abraham had his own trying times, too. He did not have a child even in his old age, but that didn’t stop or affect his constant relationship with God—he was consistent in that. The Lord visited Sarah just as HE had said, and she bore a son at the set time of which God had spoken to him, which means she did not conceive nor bear a son before or after the set time God had said; rather, it was exactly that time. God’s promises always come in right on time if only you can patiently wait. The joy that comes with receiving God’s promises cannot be quantified. Trust in God.

Confession: The hand of God is upon me. I will not blend in; I will stand out. I will not be silent; I will proclaim Christ. I will not draw back; I will press on until His purpose is fulfilled in me.
