THE SEVEN “I AM” (7)

“I AM THE VINE; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.” – John 15:5 (AMP)

No branch of a tree survives without being firmly attached to the trunk either by growing from it or by being grafted to it. Every Christian is as a tree branch attached to Jesus Christ, the TRUE VINE. Vitality, strength, life and productivity are what the branches have when they are firmly attached to the tree. The fastest way to deaden the branch of any tree is by denying it access to the source of life.

The Seventh ‘I AM’ statement of Jesus was one made by Him to emphasize that even though we got salvation through faith, we have to remain in Him in order to remain alive and fruitful in Him. Christ doesn’t rejoice when anyone detaches from Him. Just like you made a decision to be for Christ, you must stay in Him consciously and do not stop following Him at any point.

You must understand that the journey ahead of you is long and great and you cannot afford to be detached from Christ. Sin detaches a man from Christ but there is always forgiveness with Him if you would sincerely seek it. Your vitality and fruitfulness is in your continued staying in Christ. Let nothing separate you from the love of Christ for such separation brings death and/or barrenness. Intentionally abide in Christ.

Reflections: How firmly am I planted in Christ? Am I fruitful and abiding in Christ?

Confession: I have been grafted into Christ and I stay in Him, alive and fruitful. I do not allow anything whatsoever separate me from Him.
