Psalms 119:15 (NLT)
I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. God is eternal and unchanged, so are His Words and commandments. God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament and He is still the God in this age, therefore His Ways and Words do not change, no matter the change in season and age. However, many people think that God has relaxed some of His commandments and they now subtly disobey them thereby incurring God’s wrath upon themselves. One of such commandments is in Exodus 20:4 – “You shall not make yourself any graven image [to worship it] or any likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;”
Do not try to defend your disobedience to this law in your heart. It applies today as well as it applied in the days of Moses. God holds with much importance what you place as a priority in your life. He expects that in reference to your submission to Him as your Lord, you must not in any way have any other gods beside or above Him. What then do we have today? Many persons, even Christians have exalted mammon, the god of riches, position, fame above God. Pursuing after money all the while you are serving God is not delightful to God.
When a man stays well with God, he gets elevated to positions of authority without him having to fight for it. Fame also comes as a man stays with God but all these are in the confines of His will. He is the one to dictate if you will have riches bountifully or minimally. He is the one to decide if you will be famous or not. Esteeming other gods above God makes you relegate God. Do well to check where you are guilty of this and make the necessary amendments. Grace!
