Think On These Things (4)

Philippians 4:8 [KJV]

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

The Word of God is like a seed that is sown upon a soil and the expectation of the Sower is bountiful harvest and overflowing fruitfulness. Every time you hear or read the Word of God, the expectation of God is that this Word produces in you fruits that abide till life eternal and the effect of the fruit is not seen in how many words you are able to speak per day but by the kind of lifestyle you live through this Word. The essence of the Word of God in a man’s life is so that his life can be ordered by the Word, making him live a distinguished and distinctive life from the normal that is rampant.

However, this fruitfulness does not come by chance. A conscious and deliberate effort is required for the Word of God to be fruitful in a man’s life. This intentional effort is what is called Meditation. God told Joshua in Joshua 1:8 that – “This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, BUT YOU SHALL MEDITATE ON IT DAY AND NIGHT, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.” It is expedient that you take note of the words in uppercase. Meditating on the Word of God is what brings fruitfulness. In the process of meditation, the Word mixes with faith inside of you and then it produces transformation, making the power in the Word a reality to you.

Why should you think and meditate on the Word of God? Because the Word of God is true, honest, just, lovely and pure. Filling your thoughts with the Word of God makes you walk in the reality present in it. Meditating on the Word further impresses and establishes the truth of God’s Word upon your heart and it stays with you so much that it becomes alive in every situation you may find yourself. Just reading the Word of God on the passing is not enough to enable you live a fulfilled life. The Word stays with you even if you forget every other thing because your mind responds to what you feed to it. Therefore, feed your heart with the Word of God by meditating in this Word day and night.

Confession: My mind is filled and saturated with the Word of God and through it, my life experiences transformation.
