Think On These Things (7)

Proverbs 4:23 [AMP]

“Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.”

Every house has a door and every territory has a gate through which all that come in and out are able to do so. In like manner does the heart has entrances, that is, means through which information and things enter into it. And if the heart will still be pure and sacred as it should be, these entrances must be taken note of and what enters in through these entrances must be screened in the light of God’s Word diligently. Your heart matters to God and it matters if you will indeed live for God and that’s why you must not hold back in ensuring that you keep your heart safe no matter the sacrifices you will have to pay to make that happen. Not being ready to pay the price for keeping your heart pure makes you lose the prize for keeping your heart pure.

Jesus Christ gave us the first entrance into the heart of a man in Luke 11:34 which reads – “YOUR EYE IS THE LAMP OF YOUR BODY; when your eye (your conscience) is sound and fulfilling its office, your whole body is full of light; but when it is not sound and is not fulfilling its office, your body is full of darkness.” Yea, you read that right! Your eye is one entrance to your heart that you must be really careful with if you will have a pure heart without evil and corruption. Christ calls the eye the lamp of your body and what that implies is that with your eyes you see and control your body from stumbling. Therefore, what you see and how you see is very important to your well-being in all areas.

Without any doubt, the eye is a sensitive part of the body which must be guarded jealously against anything that bring it to a position of darkness. As a Christian, not all scenes are meant for you to behold with your eyes. You cannot sit down and watch every kind of movie that’s advertised and expect that you will maintain the sanity and purity of your heart. Beloved, to what extent can you go to ensure that you guard your eyes from behold iniquity and evil that are capable of causing great harm to your heart? Think about this.

Confession: My eyes is sound and my body is full of light.
