“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord.” – James 1:6-7 (NKJV)
There were many miracles written in the Gospels as a testimony to the power of God at work in Jesus Christ while He was on earth and many people who were not even Jews enjoyed the encounter with this power. What was the deciding factor? Faith. Praying or making a request of God without is a waste of time and effort. Jesus taught so much on faith and how important it is for anyone who would want to receive answers to their prayers.
Matthew 17:20 – “So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (NKJV)
Jesus compared the power of faith that is as small as a mustard seed and what it can accomplish. Imagine having a faith which the Bible refers to as great faith. If little faith can do such great thing, what would great faith do?
As a believer, you must understand that faith is necessary for you to receive answers to your prayers. Anyone who doubts does that to belittle God’s power and indirectly call Him a liar. Doubt and faithlessness mirrors God as powerless in the heart of a man. This is not true of God. God is powerful and faithful. He does not lie. When He has promised a thing, certainly, it will come to pass.
It is very important for you to check if you truly have faith in God and what He is able to do. There are those who know what God has said but do not believe that He can perform it. The response of faith is: “Be it unto me according to Your Word.”
Don’t try to figure out how God will do what He has promised. Trying to figure things out yourself even after you have prayed will expose you to the reality of the impossibilities that lie ahead of you. Faith makes you see the power of God and the possibilities in Him. Having double mind concerning the prayer you are offering will make your prayers powerless and ineffective. You must have total faith in God and by this, you’ll receive answers promptly.
Action Point: Make a list of requests that you have faith for and the ones you don’t have faith for. Trust God to help you.
Confession: I have the Word of God in me. It births faith and trust towards God in me.
