Why We Pray (4)

James 5:16 (AMP)

“Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) is able to accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].”

Prayer is the believer’s means of healing and restoration in every area of life. In James 5, prayer is emphasized to be offered if anyone is afflicted, sick, or in need of help. Prayer in faith is supposed to replace worrying and complaining. One who prays doesn’t worry or complain.

It is important to note that prayer achieves so much and makes many things happen, but this can be so when it is in faith, consistent, and persistent. What prayer accomplishes cannot be done by any other thing. By prayer, Elijah closed the heavens, and he did open them three and a half years later through the same means.

God answers prayers, but believers must know that coming to God in prayer regularly is an advantage for the believer. God is interested in making a lot of things work in our lives, but we must be willing to commit them into His hands. One who hasn’t learnt to depend on God cannot fully experience the power of God in every situation of life. We pray to receive healing and restoration and to experience the move of God in every circumstance.

Confession: With faith, I pray always consistently and persistently until my change comes.
