“God is spirit [the Source of life, yet invisible to mankind], and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” – John 4:24 (AMP)
On a day that remains the best of Isaiah’s life as a prophet of God, he encountered the Lord. Oh what a joy for a man to see the Lord, such life doesn’t remain the same. No one who sees the Lord ever remains the same, transformation is the product of having the revelation of the Lord God. And this is what happened in the life and ministry of prophet Isaiah.
Two things happened to him during this encounter with the realms of God which is a must for anyone to be an acceptable worshipper before God. In Isaiah 6:5, he cried out, “Woe is me, for I am undone. Because I am a man of unclean lips, I am and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts.” He recognized his sinfulness despite being a minister of the Lord. Until a man’s eyes is opened to see and recognize his sinful nature and fallen state, he will never look to God for cleansing and purification and without this, worship will always proceed from a deceitful heart.
And secondly, sanctification and purification took place as the angel touched his lips with live coal from the altar and the result, his iniquity was taken away and his sin purged. Oh what a wonderful experience and a turnaround in his worship of Yahweh. The sin that made it impossible for Isaiah to truly serve the Lord was taken away and his sin was purged and this experience must be had by everyone who desires to worship the Lord in truth just like Jesus said.
Dear believer, you must allow the Holy Spirit work sanctification, purification and cleansing upon your heart in order that your worship might be true. If falsehood or deceit dwells in your heart, your worship is already polluted and will not be accepted. To worship the Lord in truth, you must speak the truth in your heart but this is not possible without the working of the Holy Spirit upon your heart because the heart of man is naturally deceitful and wicked. Submit yourself under the cleansing fire of the Holy Spirit and let your heart experience transformation.
Practical Application: Have you had any encounter with the Lord where you truly saw your depravity and the need for sanctification and purification by the Holy Spirit?
Confession: My eyes are opened to see the Lord. My heart is cleansed, purified and sanctified. I am holy and pure in thought and speech. I worship the Lord in spirit and in truth.
