2 Timothy 2:3 (NLT)
“Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. “
No believer has been called to live and operate in isolation and independent of other believers. Every believer has the mandate to live for the growth and fulfillment of other believers. The believer works to help other believers fulfil their God-ordained purpose and also to strengthen them in times of weakness.
Proverbs 27:17 rightly says, “As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” (NKJV)
Soldiers are known for one thing: BROTHERHOOD. What makes an army strong is that each soldier watches the back of the other and will not keep silent when the enemy is spotted. But more than this, a soldier will help a fellow soldier who has been wounded on the battlefield, not hurt him the more or kill him or even condemn him if his mistake led to the injury.
Christ has called every believer to be like this, one who watches the back of the other and always sees to it that they are safe from evil or danger. As Christians, we are to help each other in times of weakness and not sit in the seat of judgment to condemn a fellow brother who has made a mistake. This cannot be done if we don’t pray for and admonish one another. Never leave a brother in danger. Be the soldier who is willing to risk it all for the safety of another soldier. Be a Christian whom others can depend on when the battle is tough and fierce.
Confession: I am a soldier of Christ, and I live my life to help other soldiers like me on the battlefield.
