Serving As Christ’s Soldier (4)

Genesis 15:1 (AMP)

“After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: ‘Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

Every government, kingdom, or organization has a reward system for its workers and/or servants. Soldiers who serve under the governments of the world are rewarded with medals of honour for their acts of valour. The reward of a soldier is not always money; money is the most basic of rewards, and the benefits a soldier enjoys from his government. It will be absurd for a soldier of a nation to look to another nation for rewards.

Every Christian and minister of the Gospel is a soldier under the Kingdom and Government of God, where Christ is the Commander of the Army. Therefore, the reward system is subject to the discretion of God Himself. God spoke to Abraham and told him that He [God] is his very great reward. God has not called us to look to the kingdom of the world for rewards for our services in the Kingdom of God.

Dear Christian Soldier, your reward is God Himself, and He alone knows how best to compensate you for your services in the Kingdom. Do not at any time look to the world for rewards. Many who look to the world for rewards will sooner or later compromise the standard of the Kingdom. Many have betrayed Christ because they want to enjoy the rewards of the world; do not be like them. You have a great reward in God; the Sufficiency of God is your reward. Stay with Him and enjoy this.

Confession: God is my very great reward, and I look to Him alone to be rewarded.
