Why We Pray (1)

Luke 18:1 (AMP)

“Now Jesus was telling the disciples a parable to make the point that at all times they ought to pray and not give up and lose heart.”

Prayer is one of the most important disciplines a Christian must not joke with if he is to survive and fulfill God’s will on earth. Almost, if not everyone on earth prays; the difference is to whom prayer is offered, how it is made, and for what purpose. Jesus Christ even prayed while He was on earth (Luke 11:1). The prayer of Jesus is not one to trivialize because He practiced it to teach His disciples to do the same.

For the believer, prayer is not just one of those things to do when you have no option; in fact, when your options are many, you must and should pray. The believer is not to pray just to have possession of things on earth, for he is expected to have more of a desire than that.

No one can be a Christian without praying consistently and persistently because this is the means by which we fellowship with God and relate with Him. In prayer, words are spoken to God’s hearing, not just to ask for things but to have knowledge of His will. The heart of the Father is revealed in the place of prayer. Genuine and heartfelt prayers help a man to stay in alignment with God. How often do you pray to God, our Father?

Confession: I will not keep silent and be nonchalant about my fellowship with God, but I will pray and commune with Him.
